Varsity Girls Volleyball Heats Up in September (Game Logs) Christian Lee, October 7, 2025 8/19 Win @ Beverly Hills 3-2, 1-0 Overall Following a deep playoff run last season, the Vikings started off the year on a high note, winning the season opener over Beverly Hills High School. Following her All-CIF selection from her Freshman season, Halima Guidera led the team with an impressive 15 kills and 4 blocks and Grace Gregory put up a team-high 15 digs. The Vikings won 3 of the 5 sets to take a close victory on the road. 8/21 Loss vs. Archer 0-3, 1-1 Overall Fresh off a win in the opener, the Vikings were swept in their home opener to Archer School. It was the first time the Vikings have been swept since last season against Chadwick. Naieri Bailey was one of the few bright spots in this one, leading the team with 5 kills. Julie Cortes had her first big game as a Viking, chipping in with 5 digs in the loss. 8/26 Loss @ West Torrance 0-3, 1-2 Overall The Vikings headed back on the road and dropped their second straight game, suffering a sweep to West Torrance High School. Halima Guidera led the team with 7 kills and 7 digs and Grace Gregory had 6 kills and 5 digs. Gia Upshaw chipped in with 3 aces. 9/3 Loss @ El Segundo 0-3, 1-3 Overall The Vikings losing skid continued as the team suffered their third consecutive sweep, this time at the hands of El Segundo High School. Julie Cortes was the lone bright spot, collecting 7 digs in the loss. 9/5 Loss vs. Geffen Academy 1-3, 1-4 Overall, 0-1 in League On the heels of suffering a third consecutive sweep, the Vikings faced off against Geffen Academy in their first league game of the season. The Vikings struggled once again, finding themselves down 2 after dropping the first 2 sets. Vistamar won the 3rd set to avoid being swept for the 4th consecutive night, but lost the final set 23 to 25. Halima Guidera led the team with 13 kills, Grace Gregory collected 12 digs, and Charlie Amir chipped in with 2 aces. 9/8 Loss vs. CAMS 2-3, 1-5 Overall, 0-2 in League The Vikings put up a fight in this one but couldn’t come out on top, losing a heartbreaker to CAMS. From the start of the game, the odds were stacked against the Vikings as one of their best players, Halima Guidera, was ruled out with a sprained ankle. But everyone stepped up in Halima’s absence, most notably Naieri Bailey who led the team with 10 blocks. Grace Gregory put up a season-high 14 kills, and also led the team with 4 aces. Julie Cortes led the team with a season-high 15 digs. The Vistamar traded wins with CAMS, dropping sets 1 and 3, while winning sets 2 and 4. Unfortunately, Vistamar was unable to close out the game, losing the final set to CAMS. Vistamar is now 0 and 2 in league play and 1 and 5 overall to begin this season. 9/10 Win @ HMSA 3-0, 2-5 Overall, 1-2 in League The Vikings snapped their 4 game losing skid with a sweep over HMSA. Julie Cortes led the team with 8 digs, Grace Gregory had 7 kills, and Sherley had a team-high 4 aces. This marks the Vikings first league win of the season. 9/15 @ Wildwood 3-2, 3-5 Overall, 2-2 in League Vistamar took a close win over Wildwood winning in 5 sets. Halima Guidera didn’t miss a beat, putting up a team-high 14 kills in her first game back, coming off an ankle injury. Haeri Bailey led the team with a season-high 14 blocks. Charlie Amir put up a season-high 8 aces and Grace Gregory led the team with a season-best 22 digs. The Vikings are now .500 in league play and will look to extend their winning streak against Rolling Hills Prep. 9/16 vs. Rolling Hills Prep 3-0, 4-5 Overall, 3-2 in League The Vikings swept Rolling Hills Prep, extending their winning streak to 3 games. Charlie Amir put up 6 aces, Tava’e Scanlan had 5 kills, and Tegan Kiely led the team with 5 digs. Following the rough 1 and 5 start, the Vikings find themselves just 1 game below .500 overall and 1 game above .500 in league play. Sports
