Shohei Ohtani Becomes the 1st player in Dodger History To Reach the 40-40 club

Christian Lee, October 6, 2024

It couldn’t be scripted any better for Shohei Ohtani, as the Japanese sensation made MLB history, leading the Dodgers to a huge comeback win over the Rays. Coming into the game, Shohei was at 39 stolen bases and 39 homer runs on the season, closing in on the first 40-40 season in Dodgers history. In the 4th inning, Ohtani reached on an infield single and stole his 40th base of the season. In the bottom of the 9th with the bases loaded, Shohei Ohtani came up with the game on the line. Shohei launched one to right center field as the crowd erupted. Shohei had just joined the 40-40 club with a walk-off grand slam! Ohtani became the fastest player to reach the 40-40 club in MLB history, doing so in just 126 games, besting the previous record by 21 games! Shohei will continue to lead the way for this Dodgers team, and fans will see if he can make even more history this season.
