Update: Shohei Ohtani Completes the First Ever 50/50 Season With the Biggest Single-Game Performance in MLB History, 9/19/24 Christian Lee, October 6, 2024 What a night, Shohei. pic.twitter.com/2fiZHYgLLN— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) September 20, 2024 With one of the most dominant offensive single game performances in MLB history, Shohei Ohtani became the first player ever to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a single season in MLB history! Ohtani started the game at 48 homers and 49 stolen bags. Shohei led off the game with a double, and stole his 50th base of the season in the 1st. In the 2nd, Shohei came up and lined an RBI single, and stole another base in the process. Ohtani broke the game open for LA with a 2 run double, but was thrown out at 3rd. In the 6th, Shohei crushed his 49th home run of the season and was just 1 home run away. In the 7th, the Marlins decided to face Shohei and paid the price as Shohei crushed one the other way for his 50th home run of the season! Ohtani became the first player to reach 50/50 in a season, and also set numerous other records, including the Dodgers single-season home run record, passing Shawn Green who hit 49 in 2001. But Shohei wasn’t done yet. Ohtani came up for the 6th time in the 9th and sent one all the way to the second deck in right field to make it a 17-3 game! It was his 3rd home run of the night! Shohei ended up finishing the game, going 6 for 6 with 3 home runs, 10 RBIs, 5 extra-base hits, and 2 stolen bases, falling just a triple shy of the cycle! Shohei continues to break records each time he steps in the box or takes the mound, making him one of, if not the greatest player of all time. Current Events Sports
