Happy Halloween, Vikings: Insight into how Vistamar celebrates the spookiest day of the year Madison Evangelist, November 9, 2023 Volume 19: Issue 2 On October 31st, Vistamar Vikings came to school dressed up for Halloween. To celebrate, Vistamar holds an annual costume contest during lunch in the Viking Commons. This year, Melina B. ‘27 took first place as a fairy. Handmade by her and her mother, Melina B.’s costume was nothing short of gorgeous, including floral detailing and gold wings. Coming in second place were Carter K. ‘26 and Henry B. ‘26 as “Millionaires.” Both were decked out from head to toe in velvet purple suit jackets, gold chains, and lots of fake money. Sebastian E. ‘25, Brady G. ‘25, Dylan J. ‘25, Logan P. ‘25, and Isaiah H. ‘25, took third place as “The LeBrons,” an ode to the iconic Lakers player, LeBron James. All five channeled their inner Lebron James as they sported his jersey in the classic purple and gold. For the first time in Viking history, Vistamar had a pumpkin decorating contest. Spearheaded by freshmen Asha F-L. ‘27, Lilah S. ‘27, and Isabela M. ‘27, contestants received a pumpkin, which they decorated with paint and craft materials like pipe cleaners. Contestants let their imaginations run wild when designing and decorating their pumpkins. Lilah S. ’27 and Isabela M. ’27 were tied for first place, who decorated their pumpkins as The Lorax and a corgi, respectively. Maddie E. ‘24 came in second place, decorating her pumpkin as though it was having a spa day. Coming in third place, Santi C-L. ’27 and Lola C. ’27 decorated their pumpkin like a Formula 1 race car. It is safe to say that Halloween at Vistamar was spooktacular this year! Photo Credit: Casey Quirarte and Madison Evangelist School News
